American Cancer Society offices are open to the public and exist to support local cancer patients with programs and services, plan and coordinate fundraising activities and events, and network within the local community. As part of its local office support, the American Cancer Society offers a wide-range of volunteer opportunities. Individual opportunities are available and may be customized based on volunteer interest and skills. These are some of the activities that Office Support Volunteers will be able to select from:
Operational Support
Help with answering phones, take messages, and transfer calls
Open and sort mail and faxes
Prepare regular and bulk office mailings
Shred files
Organize files
Provide customer service by greeting and assisting office visitors and volunteers
Help connect volunteers with appropriate office staff
Event Support
Assist with regular and bulk event mailings
Copy materials, fold brochures, cut paper
Collate material and assemble packets
Fold and sort t-shirts
Receive shipments and help sort and track inventory
Organize and clean storage rooms
Load materials into transportation vehicles
Mission Support
Help collate mission material information and prepare folders
Help with patient resource referral and navigation
Help organize mission information inventory and storage room
