Come for a ride on our jonhboats, hop onto the shore and pick up garbage off of the banks of the Ohio River! Did you know over 5 million people get their drinking water out of the Ohio River? Marine life and birds often get tangled in debris polluting the waters OR eat plastics, thinking they are food! These are just a few of the reasons you should help us remove garbage from our rivers!
LL&W operates on a one-of-a-kind fleet of barges, known as the only "Industrial Strength" river cleanup operation in the world, on which we host community-based river cleanups and educational workshops.
Most days, we will be hosting 2 cleanups per day, one from 9am - 12pm and one from 1pm - 4pm, with lunch provided for all volunteers between 12-1. Volunteers can sign up for a half-day, or fill out the form twice to sign up for both sessions! To register for a cleanup please click here, http://bit.ly/OhioRiverCleanups We provide all necessary materials including: trash bags, gloves, life jackets, water, sunscreen, bug spray etc.
We would love to see individuals coming out, and can accommodate groups up to 45 volunteers! We suggest volunteers should be above the age of 12, but can make circumstantial exceptions.
Since 1998, we have worked with over 97,000 volunteers to remove 8.7 MILLION pounds of marine debris from America’s Rivers. The work of our organization has been featured on CBS Sunday Morning, NBC Nightly News, CNN (multiple times), The Discovery Channel and others, as well as in major publications such as National Geographic, Outside Magazine, Reader’s Digest, etc. In 2013, our President and Founder, Chad Pregracke, was even named CNN’s Hero of the Year!
We look forward to hopefully meeting you along the Ohio!!
