The Organization:
PeaceGeeks is a global non-profit, volunteer organization that uses technology to build the technological, communications and management capacities of grassroots organizations who work to promote peace, accountability and human rights. We develop partnerships with these organizations to provide meaningful support designed to increase their skills, effectiveness and impact. We see a world where everyone can leverage technology to make peace and human rights a lived reality.
Position Overview:
The Print Designer will be working within the creative and design department to develop print and web graphics related to our crowdfunding campaign, as well as our PeaceTalk series that brings out the organization’s vision. The successful incumbent will have a background in design and graphics with experience choosing font types, colors, and creating attractive headlines that will catch the audience’s attention. The position would be best suited for a creative individual that can use various design programs.
Responsibilities:
Assisting the PeaceGeeks teams to create print and web graphics relating to crowd funding and our PeaceTalk series
Creates solid content that brings out PeaceGeeks vision, mission and values
Ensures that all deadlines are met
Determining appropriate letter and line spacing, integrating illustrations and photographs and laying out pages
Understanding the target demographic and creating content to attract that audience
Qualifications:
Working towards or completed post-secondary degree or diploma in graphic design or related field
Students with completion of at least 2 years of post-secondary education in graphic design or related field are welcomed
1+ years of experience in web and graphic printing
Experience using Adobe illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Quark Express, Typography
Tech-savvy
Proven communication and time-management skills
Knowledge of current issues and events locally and globally
