To help newcomer parents (clients) who can’t access ESL classes because of child care needs and learn English. You’ll assist parents to read, write and practice conversational English they need to access resources, educational programs and employment opportunities. You’ll visit the parents in their home while their children are present.

Time commitment:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (9am-5pm)
  • Minimum 2 hours weekly or more if available
  • 12-16 tutoring sessions
  • Mandatory training session totaling 6 hours

Visit the parents in their home while their children are present

  • Mentor the parent to improve their knowledge of English conversational skills
  • Identify learning needs and provide support
  • Help client develop self-confidence in speaking and listening to English
  • Plan, organize and prepare weekly lesson plans
  • Attend monthly volunteer education/training
  • Submit a weekly log
