Young students in Providence need help !
And Inspiring Minds can help you decide how to make a difference. We are a 50 year-old educational non-profit looking for volunteers to become tutors and confidence-builders.
We are currently searching for in-school tutors who would like to work with students grades K through 5 between the hours of 9 and 3. Volunteers meet their students, receive prepared activities from the teacher, and nee-teach and practice concepts a child may be struggling with.
Volunteers must be willing to commit to at least one hour a week for at least one whole semester. We are especially seeking individuals who are bilingual Spanish speakers, or anyone who’s looking to positively impact their community.
No previous teaching or tutoring experience is required, and training is provided.
Volunteer Applicants must:
-Submit to a background check
-Attend our 2-hour volunteer training
-Must be fluent in English
-Commit to an hour (or more) a week.
*All other training and materials provided by Inspiring Minds and Providence Public School District
You can change child’s life just by showing you care, so become someone’s reason to succeed today! Please call our office at 401-274-3240 or email inspire@inspiringmindsri.org to learn more.

Description
Inspiring Minds is an antiracist organization committed to closing equity gaps based on race, ethnicity, first language, and economic status that impact RI students and families. The organization was founded as Lippitt Hill Tutorial in1963 to provide academic support for children in two segregated elementary schools. Since then, the organization has grown into a citywide service and, in 1988, became Volunteers in Providence Schools to reflect its citywide approach to addressing academic inequities. Finally, the name Inspiring Minds was adopted in 2008 as the programs and scope of work expanded beyond Providence City's borders. Join us as we aim for programming in schools across the state!
