Youth Team Coordinator for Toledo's PET Bull Project

Description: This position will serve as a leader and coordinator of Toledo's PET Bull Project Teen Program. This includes training, supervising and leading our teen volunteers. The Youth Team Coordinator will serve as lead of a team of youth volunteers between the ages of 13-20. The Team Coordinator will work with other community partners and with Toledo's PET Bull Project volunteers in providing safe supervision of youth while participating in activities and programs, in conducting meaningful work experiences to help youth develop future employment skills. This individual needs to be committed to the holistic development of young people by participating in scheduled activities while in session, and encourage all participants to join in and try new activities. The teen volunteers will work under the direct supervision of the Program Coordinator. The Teen Program Coordinator will serve as supervising and guide the teens to develop a standard of professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and direct the team of youth participants on the designed work, outreach and education tasks
  • Be responsible for the supervision and well-being of the teens while in Teen Club
  • Learn and teach assigned curriculum and weekly themes as needed
  • Maintain good communication with the teen volunteers and program administrative team
  • Create, develop and follow all policies and procedures needed for completion of the individual tasks
  • Involve teen volunteers in scheduled activities while in session. Encourage all participants to join in and encourage them to try new activities
  • Help coordinate transportation for the teen volunteers


Required skills and knowledge

  • High energy, self-starter
  • Experience teaching or working with youth
  • Excellent people skills and a friendly, responsible, service oriented attitude
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Have a willingness to listen, learn and be considerate of others
  • Comfortable talking and dealing with teenage issues
  • View all experience as learning opportunities and teachable moments
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Be comfortable being around and working with dogs


Other Qualifications

  • Must be at least 25 years of age
  • Have a desire and ability to work with youth
  • Must have an associate’s degree or other related experience
  • Must have previous experience working with youth in a group environment
  • Experience supervising and guiding youth is preferred
  • Must understand service and the importance of civic engagement
  • Must complete the entire application and adhere to the pre-determined deadlines
  • Wiling to be part of a team built upon trust, caring attitudes and enthusiasm
  • Needs to be patient and kind
  • Must poses a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Must be willing to have a background check
  • Experience working with at risk youth

Toledo's PET Bull project is a group of Pit Bull owners, dog lovers and dog trainers who have pulled together after seeing the effects of what is being done to our PETS, pit bulls in particular by irresponsible owners.

Our goal as Toledo's PET Bull Project is to Prevent animal cruelty including dog fighting, Educate dog owners on the importance of spay and neuter, and offer FREE trainings to help owners become good citizens and advocates for their dogs whatever their breed.

The volunteers and trainers for this project have lived and worked in this community for years and find it a privilege to be able to give back in this way to help dogs and their owners.
