Our urgent need for a CPA has resulted from finding more and more grant requests that we are seeking call for audited financial reports. We are still in our growing stages and not too complicated, but as a non-profit we have filings and yearly reporting we must do. The work we have been able to accomplish has been amazing and we want to project our programming further. Also we want to build on a solid financial foundation which makes a CPA paramount.

Our mission is to educate, empower and inspire youth through the arts. In so doing, the Alliance takes the creative talent and need of the population that is driven to acts of graffiti vandalism and redirects that energy into something sustaining and beneficial to the community as well as their individual lives. We have a duty to care. Before we participate in sending youth down a road of impossibilities, let’s provide an opportunity of possibilities. We actually care about kids and refuse to let them fail.
Description
San Diego Cultural Arts Alliance implements a Graffiti Education & Mural Arts Program throughout San Diego. The Alliance runs classes in the San Diego school system and the Justice system concurrently. This program starts at the cause not the problem. The inclusive program incorporates Prevention, Intervention and Diversion in its presentation. The Graffiti & Arts Education Curriculum used in our 8 week courses were created in active collaboration of the San Diego Police Department, the San Diego County Probation Department, the District Attorney's Office and the San Diego Unified School District.
We accommodate youth from elementary school to 18 years in under-served communities. Participants attend public schools, alternative educational schools or are in the San Diego Justice System. Graffiti Education begins with a comprehensive Graffiti Hurts curriculum and includes Math, English, vocabulary and Social Sciences that meet California State core curriculum standards. Participants learn to identify graffiti vandalism as a problem that is costly and promotes fear in their communities. They gain insight on how the power of art impacts in their communities. They also establish standards for themselves to create successful decisions through the curricula and mentoring.
