ORGANIZATION: American Lung Association, Greater Bay Area

  • 3 people are interested

Every year, we get requests to attend Health Fairs throughout the Bay Area and we really need dedicated volunteers that are interested in being trained on how to set-up, manage and interact with the community while representing the American Lung Association at these fairs. The volunteers will be trained on the American Lung Association's mission, objectives, lung cancer and related diseases and will be versed enough to communicate at health fairs our mission, answer general questions about the lung cancer and related diseases and provide resources and tools to the community.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in Public Health, Health Sciences, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy or any other related health care career. We are expecting a 1 yr commitment to the assignment due to the amount of training involved.

If interested, please send a resume to Cecilia Haywood at Cecilia.Haywood@lung.org.

Mission Statement

The mission of the American Lung Association is to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The American Lung Association in California pursues its mission through advocacy, education and research. We are the only organization in California that helps people and communities improve lung health while working to create public policies that attack the causes of lung disease.

Description

For more than 100 years, the American Lung Association has fought some of our country’s greatest health threats. In 1904, the fight was with tuberculosis, but over the years our focus expanded to prevent or cure all lung diseases, eliminate smoking through tobacco control advocacy, and address environmental health issues.

Today, the focus is on healthy air for healthy lungs.

Since 1954, The American Lung Association in California has been saving lives and improving the health of Californians and their lungs. Through research, education and advocacy, we fight to reduce smoking, keep the air we breathe clean, prevent and treat lung diseases such as asthma and COPD, and eliminate lung cancer.
