The Friends of the Marin County Free Library is a group of volunteers dedicated to making our library system and its programs the best they can be.
Our mission is to:
- focus public attention on and generate community support for library services, facilities, and other needs
- expand opportunities for the education and well-being of the community
- encourage literacy
- assist in obtaining financial support for the library
We currently have openings on our Board of Directors. We are an all volunteer organization, and our board is an active, working board. We need board members who will use their energy and creativity to fill some specific needs, including One Book/One Marin, mailing, and programs.
Not ready to join our Board? Do you love books and people? Join our crew of volunteers at our used book shop, the Book Place , located at 1608 Grant Avenue in Novato . Volunteers are needed to serve as sorters and sales associates. Applicants should be able to lift and shelve books for at least one or two three-hour shifts per month.

Description
We are an all volunteer organization that seeks to provide support and funding for the Marin County Free Library. Our funds come from memberships, donations, and sales at the Book Place, our used book store at 1608 Grant Avenue in Novato, CA.
We support the Library's Summer Learning program, STEAM activities, year around programming for children, teens and adults, Spanish language programs, and more.
