Special Olympics Santa Barbara will host its fourth Regional Soccer Tournament Girsh Park on Sunday, October 29th. Two local Santa Barbara teams will compete against teams from Ventura, San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria in an exciting day of competition.
This year’s competition features nine teams, three soccer fields and skills competitions in dribbling, kicking and passing.
The public is invited to volunteer, cheer on our athletes and join the fun. "You too can be a fan of determination and catch the spirit of courage and joy that Special Olympics Athletes display as they compete," says Tim Philibosian, Regional Sports Manager. The opening ceremonies will begin at 9am and the competition begins at 9:30 am. The closing ceremony and awards will be presented at 1:45 pm.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with an intellectual disability, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
The Santa Barbara Special Olympics is a non-profit organization that allows people with developmental disabilites within the Santa Barbara community to participate in year-round athletic competition. We offer several sports that our athletes can participate in free of charge.
