To foster human + community development through community-based arts.

Description

San Anto Cultural Arts (SACA) is a 20 year-old, community-based, cultural arts organization located 2 blocks from the Alazan-Apache Housing Projects. The initial organization was created in 1993 by a group of local youth and was based out of Inner City Development. SACA received its non-profit status in 1997. SACA currently operates 3 main programs - El Placazo Community Newspaper and Mentor Program (EPCN), Community Mural / Public Art Program (CMP), Multi Media Institute. SACA also organizes various community initiatives and projects. These include: Dia De Los Muertos Community Barrio Procession; Huevos Rancheros Breakfast Gala and Silent Art Auction; scholarship / financial aid workshops; safe sex / substance abuse dialogue forums; Neighborhood Mural Tours; mural consulting service; Muralist-In-Residence-Project; Teen Mentor Initiative; Corazon y Familia Mural 5K Walk / Run.
