We are the DC affiliate of a national organization whose mission is to surround students with a caring network of support so that they are empowered to stay in school and acheive in life. We partner with 7 schools across the metro area: Cardozo Education Campus, Hart Middle, Johnson Middle School, Stuart Hobson Middle, Moten Elementary, Martin Luther King Elementary and JO Wilson Elementary.
We have various opportunities for you to be a part of the work that we do. If interested in volunteering, please please fill out our volunteer application (https://cisnationscapital.z2systems.com/np/clients/cisnationscapital/account.jsp) and someone will follow up with you promptly with a full list of volunteer opportunities and next steps.
Some of the current volunteer opportunities include:
- Help run a food market for children and families in need
- Join a group of others to help care for a school's community Garden
- Hold a holiday food and/or toy drive for the upcoming holiday season
- Participate in Report Card Conferences (held quartlerly) by sitting down with individual students to discuss their grades and attendance
- Tutor/be a homework helper for a child in need of academic support
- ...and there's much more that happens over the course of the school year.
Join us and other volunteers in impacting the children and youth of DC!
