Beach Cities Health District would like to invite you to join us on Saturday, October 1 st for the Streets For All Campaign. We are bringing organizations, residents, schools and cities together for one mission-to create a healthy beach community.

Safe places to walk and bike are important for supporting active, vibrant communities. BCHD is launching a campaign to educate the community on how they can create "Streets for All": bicyclists, pedestrians, drivers, strollers and skateboarders. We are recruiting 100 volunteers to assist in a one-day community education blitz along Prospect Avenue and other school zones throughout Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach. Volunteers will be deployed to a pre-assigned route to distribute lawn signs and "Streets for All" campaign materials to participating residents along these school zones.

If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up at www.bchd.org/streetsforall.

This promises to be a great opportunity to partner with local schools and cities to keep beach cities streets safe to residents and visitors of all ages.

Volunteers will be provided with a t-shirt and training day of event.

About Beach Cities Health District

Location:

514 N. Prospect, Redondo Beach, CA 90277, US

Mission Statement

Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is a healthcare district focused on preventive health and serves the communities of Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach and Redondo Beach. Established in 1955 as a public agency, it offers an extensive range of dynamic health and wellness programs, with innovative services and facilities to promote health and prevent diseases across the lifespan.

Description

Focusing on wellness, not sickness, encourages people to make wiser healthcare decisions. Preventative causes of illness and death, like tobacco smoking, poor diet and physical inactivity, are estimated to be responsible for nearly a million deaths annually-almost 40 percent of total yearly mortality in the United States. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), about 90 percent of today’s healthcare costs are for treating people with chronic yet preventable diseases. BCHD’s wellness and healthy living programs and services are aimed at making prevention an integral part of the classrooms, workplace and homes of the beach cities.

To enhance community health through partnerships, programs and services for people who live and work in Hermosa, Manhattan and Redondo Beach.
