Providence Marathon
A DREAMFAR mentor and her student cross the finish line together at the Cox Providence Marathon.

Dreamfar High School Marathon challenges youth to reach their full potential--physically, emotionally, socially, and academically--through a mentor-supported marathon training program. Over 120 students from 15 different high schools in the Greater Boston area meet at the Brookline Teen Center and train together Saturday mornings during the school year working toward the ultimate goal of completing the Providence Marathon. Each successful run demonstrates the importance of physical activity, the value of hard work, commitment, and team support. As students cross the finish line, they experience the impossible becoming possible and are empowered to tackle any of life’s challenges.

DREAMFAR mentors run alongside youth and help them train for and complete the Cox Providence Marathon by providing companionship, motivation, and support. Mentors run as part of the whole team, but are specifically matched in "running families" consisting of 4-6 mentors and 8-12 students. No prior running experience is required to volunteer for this program.
