Volunteer Description

Tuesday's Table provides approximately 70 community members a week with ongoing access to fresh, nutritious foods. Anyone in need of food assistance can attend the weekly distribution in Woodland to receive fruits, vegetables, grains, and occasionally bread and sweets.

The Site Lead for Tuesday’s Table will oversee volunteers and facilitate the food distribution each week. The distribution takes place every Tuesday from 9:00 am to 9:45 am at the Woodland Community and Senior Center located at 2001 East Street, Woodland CA 95776. The Site Lead will also be responsible for communicating program numbers, needs, or concerns to the Program Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities

- Receiving food on the morning of the distribution day

- Coordinating and overseeing volunteers

- Complying with all Yolo Food Bank guidelines

- Communicating with Yolo Food Bank’s Program Coordinator

- Submitting timely reports to the Program Coordinator

- Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

- At least 18 years of age

- Be able to lift crates of produce up to 40 lbs.

- Reliability in punctuality and transportation

- Leadership skills and/or supervisory experience

- Have excellent customer service skills

- Detail oriented & organized

The ideal candidate will:

- Have knowledge of types of produce, cooking skills, or nutrition info

- Have an interest in community service and/or food, hunger, & nutrition issues

- Be a fluent Spanish speaker

Time Commitment

- 2 hours per week (8:30 am - 10:30 am)

- Minimum commitment 1 year

Description

Yolo Food Bank is looking for caring, responsible, and respectful individuals or groups to help provide folks in our community with ongoing access to healthy foods. We are currently looking for volunteers to fill slots volunteering at distribution sites around Yolo County with socially distanced and contactless drive-thru and pick-up distributions. We also need volunteers to work on-site at Yolo Food Bank repackaging dry product, organizing boxes of food for residents in need, and assisting warehouse procedures.
