The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Amanda the Panda offers Support Groups four times a year for six week session for adults and children who have experienced the loss of a loved one.
In order to provide these valuable services we need volunteer facilitators to lead our peer support groups. Volunteers will co-facilitate the meetings among grieving individuals of all ages (groups divided by age).
Volunteers should feel comfortable talking about issues of grief and loos and the various emotions that go along with it. Volunteers should have effective communication and interpersonal skills, and have the ability to lead a small group through discussion and grief-related activities. Volunteers are required to attend a facilitator training before volunteering.
If you are interested in volunteer as a Support Group Facilitator please email us at email@example.com.
