Job Description
Position: Communications Intern
Reports to : Executive Director
Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/wk, preferably for 2 semesters
Status: Volunteer
Overview :
The communications intern is responsible for QARI’s external communications, which include monthly email newsletters and special mailings, social media, press releases, and the organization website. The communications intern reports to the executive director and will meet regularly with program directors.
This position is perfect for communications or English majors with an interest in nonprofits, particularly serving immigrant and underserved communities. Though some weekly presence at the office is required, much of the work can be done remotely.
Responsibilities:
Manage communications calendar
Compile and send out monthly email newsletter and special mailings for events
Manage social media accounts, make regular posts, generate following
Update website periodically, check website for out-of-date information
Write press releases
Required skills:
Exceptional writing skills
Close attention to detail, ability to multitask
An eye for photography
Familiarity with social media (Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat, Instagram)
Some experience with HTML and Wordpress a big plus
Graphic design experience or artistic talent a plus

Description
We are a multi-service agency that serves the Asian population (primarily immigrants and those with low-income) residing in Quincy and the surrounding South Shore. Some of the services we offer include ESOL classes, youth leadership development, mentoring, translation, cultural events, and information and referrals to outside resources.
