Mission Statement

Utilizing Creative Industries for Social and Global Justice

Description

Fashion Vie is inspired by the life and vision of Chuks Collins, an African designer whose fashion lines have been featured in Fashion Week gatherings from New York to Canada to Lagos, Nigeria. He also serves as a costume designer for major film productions. As part of Housing Works’ Asylum Project, Mr. Chuks received incredible care and support during his roughest times while suffering deadly kidney failure complications following a car crash that set his soaring fashion career into a two year tailspin. Housing Works helped Mr. Chuks heal, access important resources, and begin to rebuild his career.

Collins created Fashion Vie to pay that care and support forward. As an institution that utilizes creative industry to support social justice and worldwide human right issues, Fashion Vie seeks to gather audiences for a contemporary experience of fashion and art, while calling attention to the incredible work of organizations like Housing Works. Our values include concern for Access to Healthcare for All, Immigration Rights, and finding an HIV/AIDS Cure.
