American Red Cross Los Angeles Region has 5 volunteer responder teams that are on-call 24/7 throughout the Los Angeles County. We are looking for individuals with strong interpersonal and communications skills, who exemplify the core values of American Red Cross and are passionate about humanitarian service to join our immediate disaster assistance team to respond to local disasters throughout Los Angeles County from Lancaster to Long Beach.
Requirements:
- Ability to make weekly commitment to supporting Disaster Cycle Services
- Available for a minimum of 50 hours of training a year (Approx. 4 hours a month)
- Access to a vehicle and willingness to travel throughout LA County for trainings and responses
- Flexibility and problem solving skills in stressful situations
- Patience and empathy
- Eagerness to learn
- Comfortable working in a team environment but also able to work independently when necessary
- Willingness to take direction, feedback and coaching
- Experience using computers and information technology to perform business functions
- Seeking opportunities to learn different disaster related activities/skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
