The West Texas Teacher Training Residency, the first rural teacher-prep residency in Texas, is opening up its recruiting season for a summer 2017 start. If you are looking to make an impact in the clasrroom and community and improve student outcomes, we would like to provide you a uniquely intense, one-on-one training opportunity here in west Texas.

We are a university-based teacher-preperation internship program, or "Residency," that combines aspects of a clinical-residency model with rigorous masters-level coursework. While developing as an educator-researcher in a carefully chosen elementary school in Odessa, Texas, the Resident (student teacher) will receive constant, personalized mentoring from a stellar, district-recognized teacher. In addition to serving in the classroom from 7:30-4:30, Monday-Thursday, the Resident will also complete courses to receive the intial Texas credentialing license in EC-6 education, with or without bilingual/ESL or special education endorsements, as well as their Master of Arts in Education.

Total tuition for certification classes and the master's (36-hours in all) comes in under $8,000. During the Residency Year, our Residents will also receive a $10,500 living stipend.
