Cornerstone Assistance Network wants to place a Youth Development Curriculum Support Associate VISTA (Volunteer in Service to America) at Camp Fire First Texas.

Pay: $1,025 per month BEFORE taxes

Light the fire within Programming Overview The Camp Fire Educational Framework for After School Programming is a synthesis of Thrive, Youth Work Methods & curriculum content chosen to build developmental (cognitive, social-emotional, physical) skills. This approach is based on positive youth development research and the desire to create a safe, supportive & productive environment. Camp Fire programming allows participants to explore their Sparks, learn to make healthy choices, develop social skills, build new talents & have fun. Program content: 1. Is age-appropriate 2. Has intentional outcomes related to our impact areas of Work (encourage volunteerism, service learning and citizenship), Health (develop the health and well-being of the "whole child" including physical, cognitive and social/emotional health), Love (foster a love of the outdoors and environmental stewardship) & Thriving (build skills and attributes related to Competence, Connection, Character, Caring, Confidence, and Contribution that are needed to reach one’s full potential) 3. Includes activities that allow for goal-setting & progressive achievement Significant, Positive, Measurable Results Camp Fire’s focus on quality & effective programming works. Research indicates that when youth spend their time in different types of out-of-school-time activities, they fare better developmentally. Youth and teens who participate in Camp Fire are: * Happier, more involved in family and school * Confident and don’t feel a need to act out or be mean * Balanced and have an honest view of themselves * Competent and able to interact with others * Engaged and more interested in achieving their goals * Honoring all living things and the world’s resources * Resourceful in seeking opportunities

Responsibilities: * Research and Development - Ensure that current curricula respond to standards & quality indicators connected to Camp Fire youth development approaches; - Evaluate, recommend, develop & evolve curricula for Camp Fire programs; - Maintain up-to-date knowledge base on curriculum & instruction in the content areas including STEM, outdoor/environmental education, development of the whole youth & service-learning/leadership * Testing & Observation - Observe program delivery of Curriculum/Approaches for the purpose of gathering data to improve the application & to inform trainings, - Track emerging trends, issues in creation & delivery of Curricula/Approaches; - Identify instructional materials necessary to support implementation of new or modified curricula * Support for Staff - Provide professional development sessions for staff on implementation including how to write appropriate activities; - Provide training on content areas & program delivery
