Responsibilities:
Work with individuals or small groups of students who need extra support learning English. The location is The Boston Home, a residential facility serving those with advanced Multiple Sclerosis, and the ESOL classes will be for the Certified Nursing Assistants and Dietary Aides who care for them.
Wednesdays 2:00-4:00
Skills/Qualifications:
Interest in the immigrant community in our workplaces.
Sensitivity to cultural and linguistic differences
Experience teaching ESOL is helpful, but not required.
Program/Department Overview:
JVS works with employers to develop and customize training and education services for their employees at their location. Based on the employers’ business and workforce development goals, JVS will provide: English language classes (for non-native speakers), adult basic education, pre-college classes, customer service training, effective communication classes, supervisory training, computer classes, and medical terminology classes. Employer partners include CVS, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, Legal Sea Foods, Hebrew Senior Life, Partners Healthcare, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital, Mass General Hospital, and many more.
