ORGANIZATION: ReServe

GIVE BACK FILL THE GAP. ReServe redefines a career arc for persons age 55+ to include skill based volunteering 10-20 hours a week with a stipend in the nonprofit sector. ReServe matches experienced professionals seeking to give back to their communities with local nonprofits in DC, MD, and VA to help them carry out their missions and to have a social impact.

ReServe is currently seeking Tutors to support a number of nonprofits in the DC Metropolitan area. Tutors provide the elementary, middle, and high school students with the extra help in their education. The tutors will help the student by teaching them various methods to study. If the student has a problem by learning through the conventional methods, they will teach them in different innovative methods. Tutors main responsibility is to help students learn, reviewing content with them, explaining how to solve problems and checking completed work. A tutor may also help students develop study skills and organization techniques to help improve their academic performance. This may be done in a one-on-one or group setting. Tutors must often keep reports on students and share those reports with supervisors, teachers and parents. In addition to the academic component, tutors are responsible for supervising groups of students, providing discipline and serving as a role model. Tutors must possess a passion for helping students learn and have the knowledge and skills to help students find new ways to look at difficult skills and concepts.
