Mission Statement

To empower women and girls in our community through education and opportunities to achieve independence, health, self-sufficiency and a life free from violence.

Description

The YWCA has long advocated for the health and safety of women and girls. YWCA organizations throughout the country are the largest providers of domestic violence shelters and services in the country, serving over 500,000 women and children annually.

Violence against women can take many forms, including domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking. These crimes impact millions of individuals and families in every community in our nation. YWCAs around the country provide a variety of services and programs to address violence against women, ranging from emergency shelters, support groups and crisis hotlines.

YWCA Glendale offers:

  • A crisis hotline (888-999-7511) serving an area of 1.1 million people offering counseling, community referral and access to shelter services.
  • A Domestic Violence Service Center that offers counseling, resources, referrals and childcare. The Legal Department represents women in family courts and immigration matters.
  • The Sunrise Village Emergency Shelter Program provides a 45-day safe-haven for women and children. Services include meals, housing, counseling and social services; a children’s counseling program, legal advocacy, case management, housing assistance, employment, education, healthcare and childcare.
