SUSV is establishing a new initiative Needle and Thread Sewing Partners:Interpretive Costume Construction and invites YOU to join our team in sparking curiosity for and contemplation of our nation's past through your sewing talents. Get started today and enjoy a fulfilling activity that works around your schedule!
Sewing Partners will work with site historians to reproduce a historically accurate menu of apparel to be worn by interpreters during special events throughout the year.
What you need to become a Sewing Partner:
Garment Construction Know-How
Willingness to Learn About Period Clothing for Men and Women
Ability to Collaborate with Site Staff
85% of this volunteer opportunity can be completed from home, but members of the onsite team encourage Partners to work at the village as much as they would like. For those who prefer to work on their own, occassional visits to the village for fittings etc. will be necessary.
