The Young Parents Support Program is a free, voluntary program designed to meet the needs of expecting and / or parenting families who are under the age of 25 and residing in the Greater Attleboro/ Taunton area. A pregnant or parenting young adult faces many new decisions. Challenged by a new unfamiliar lifestyle, often the parent is overwhelmed and in need of direct support. YPS provides a non-judgemental atmosphere for skills development to meet the new challenges of parenting. The program focuses on the individual needs, empowering each parent with the tools for a more positive adjustment to the parenting lifestyle. Networking with community resources expands the support available to each participant. The program emphasizes the potential for these young adults to pursue life goals while parenting. The goals of the program include reduction of repeat pregnancies, improving parent-child interaction and positive parenting skills, decrease incidences of abuse and / or neglect, build economic self sufficiency skills, and improving the overall health and well being of parents and their children. YPS is funded by the Departmwnt of Children and Families however participants are not required to have DCF involvement to qualify for services.
We are looking for volunteers to supervise client’s children while the parents attend weekly parenting groups. This task will involve:
- Prioritizing safety throughout all scheduled play times
- Provide age appropriate activities for the children in attendance
- Mainting the cleanliness of the designated play rooms
- Ability to accurately report any concerns or injuries immediately
If you would like to help out, please contact us!
