About Family Service of Greater Boston

Location:

31 Heath Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130, US

Mission Statement

For over 170 years, Family Service of Greater Boston has served children, youth, and families struggling with the emotional, psychological, and economic effects of poverty, abuse, and neglect. Our programs include prevention, education, skill-building, mental health and trauma therapy, and case management to prevent and alleviate factors which could lead to permanent disability, family and community crisis, and increasing social cost. FSGB's continuum of care for children, youth, and their families offers emotional support and promotes stable relationships which lead to cognitive, emotional and social competence, warmth, and intellectual stimulation. The benefits of these supports lead to fewer behavioral problems and enhanced thinking and reasoning skills to achieve better academic, economic, life and family success.

Description

Our Vision: To become Boston's premier provider of family development and support services for children, youth and families in need. We will achieve this vision through our unyielding commitment to programmatic excellence in three areas:

*family formation

*family wellness

*family coping skills

By embracing a critical role as a "community laboratory" for program development and innovation, FSGB will partner with families by offering services that are practical, informed by research, and supportive of the best of the human spirit.
