SBP is a non-profit organization that specializes in disaster relief and recovery. In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey we have established an office in the Houston area. We are currently working on numerous residential rebuilding projects and are looking for willing volunteers to partner with. Many families in the Houston area still have homes that are completely uninhabitable. Our goal is help make their home a safe and livable environment that they can return to. No previous construction experience is required. Work can include any part of the construction process from painting to flooring to drywall. Volunteering with SBP is a great way learn a new skill while helping those in need. We take volunteers any day of the week, except Sunday. We will work with your schedule to determine how many days and what hours would be best for you. Thank you for you interest in helping Houstonians return to their homes and I hope to see you out working with us soon.

Mission Statement
SBP's mission is to reduce the time between disaster and full recovery.
Description
SBP is a national disaster relief and rebuilding organization that started in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. For ten years, SBP's mission has been to shrink time between disaster and recovery. We help low-moderate income families with an emphasis on the elderly, disabled, and families with small children. SBP is able to function in a fast, efficient, and predictable way because of three factors: 1) our dedicated AmeriCorps members, 2) our sponsors and financial supporters, and 3) our committed volunteers . Volunteers are led by trained Site Supervisors and assist on project sites through all phases of construction. No experience is necessary. Our team has been on the ground in Texas since the Memorial Day Floods. To date, we have rebuilt over 1,060 homes nationally and we have committed to rebuilding 30 homes in San Marcos within the year. There are still hundreds of families in need and homes in disrepair after last year's historic floods, and volunteers like you are vital to restoring this community.
