Volunteer Teachers Needed for the Fall

We need teachers to help launch our new water Education Program in South Carolina elementary schools directed toward 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th graders.

We would love for you to have a background in teaching, but it is not required. Each volunteer will go through training and shadowing, which will prepare the volunteer to be able to deliver the lessons with confidence.

We are only in a couple schools at the moment, but hope to expand rather quickly. We are working with 4H to reach more schools in South and North Carolina. Our water lesson plans follow the South Carolina academic standards. Each lesson is around 45 minutes long. Catawba Riverkeeper volunteers would teach the initial lesson to a chosen grade level. After three subsequent lessons by the 4H members and classroom teachers, the volunteer will present the final lesson.

The time commitment is two full days plus training to begin. As we expand into more schools, the time commitment will increase.

All lessons are taught during the school day.
