Would you like to get involved with a buzzing arts and music community? Would you like to run shows and network with upcoming musicians? Are you looking to build a portfolio and gain experience and fulfill volunteer hours for your degree program?
Gallery 263, a contemporary arts and music gallery in Cambridge, is looking for volunteers to help with their music program. The gallery currently holds upwards of five to seven shows per month, with both local and touring artists. Our shows vary in genre and audience; from indie-rock, to acoustic, jazz, or chamber music, we have it all covered. We are the only art gallery and music venue in Cambridge's "Cambridgeport" neighborhood, and our diverse programming has made us into the neighborhood hangout for new bands.
We are looking for volunteers to help with the following tasks: Flyering at your local campus; running shows (this includes running the door, setting up mics and cameras and recording shows for Youtube and podcasts); reviewing shows, albums, and interviewing bands; and blogging/podcasting about our music program. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience and network with the Cambridge music and arts community, in addition to meeting street team members from other universities.
This is an ongoing, non-paid position. Street team members are allotted three free "+1"'s monthly to our shows. In addition, we host listening and pizza parties for our street team, as well as promote their work in our bi-weekly newsletters and blog.
