Fitness Fair 2014

The Hope Zone is launching our Get Fit Families! program and is looking for engaging class facilitators to lead a one-hour program the first Monday of the month (except Sept which is the 2nd Monday due to Labor Day). While it would be ideal for facilitators to be able to run through the entire program, we will consider volunteers who can only serve 2-3 times. This program is dedicated to teaching families the whys and hows of nutritious eating and exercise. Families will be doing this program together and includes:

  • Fun and interactive activities to teach important info about fitness & nutrition
  • Cooking classes
  • Family outings (optional opportunities to engage in hiking, kayaking, indoor rock climbing, etc.)

The main responsibilities of the facilitators:

  • Be able to bring motivation in a group setting
  • Be personable with the participants and show genuine interest in helping them achieve their goals
  • Work with the Executive Director and development team to provide feedback and suggestions on program material
  • Input attendance in our database system to track participation
  • Be able to set up class as necessary (everything will be provided for you) so that you are free to greet people as they come in.
  • Clean up areas used after class

If you are passionate about helping families achieve their fitness and nutrition goals, we'd love to have you on the team. NOTE: If there is any exercise to be done at the class, we will provide a certified personal trainer or instructor to facilitate that part of class. The main exercise component of this program happens on Tuesday nights.

About The Hope Zone

Location:

Mission Statement

To inspire individuals and families to have strong relationships, live financially stable lives, and be physically healthy as God intended us to live.

Description

Our goal is to support families and build a community of people who will encourage each other to be healthy in the following areas:

Emotional Wellness & Healthy Relationships: Fun, interactive classes to help you improve your own stress management while building healthier relationships at home, at work and in the community. Our Family Fun Days are a chance to come together for some fun.

Physical Fitness & Nutrition: We offer total body workouts that the whole family (5 years and older) can do together. Classes can be modified for all levels of fitness. We also offer individual support for those looking to address specific health concerns.

Financial Stability: The whole family can move towards financial health through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University for adults, Junior's Adventures for kids, and Yes I Can! for teens and young adults. The value of working hard, saving money, living debt-free, and giving are covered in all three classes.

Spiritual Strength: Many of our classes are Biblically based but done in a way that people of all faiths are comfortable. We stand firm in the judgement-free zone and welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds. Our classes end with a prayer for anyone who would like to join us.
