It is the mission of The Light House to rebuild lives with compassion by providing shelter and services to prevent homelessness and empower people as they transition toward employment, housing, and self-sufficiency. Ninety percent of our budget is generated through private donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations. Our Development and Communications department maintains records of all contributions, stewards donors, and oversees communications.
The Light House is seeking interns in our Development and Communications department. Interns will be trained on record management, generating thank you letters, and communications strategies.
Intern Needs and Characteristics
Input gifts, pledges, and information about donors into database
Prepare thank you letters for the Executive Director’s signature
Spearhead new communication campaign with the support and guidance from members of the Development and Communications team
Maintain consistent schedule of 10-20 hours per week during office hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Detail-oriented, focused, and committed to maintaining confidentiality of donor information
Familiarity and comfort with computers
All ages welcome, must have reliable transportation
Enthusiasm for the mission of The Light House is essential
