Description:
Share your audio editing/computer skills with those who are blind, visually impaired or print disabled! Seeking dedicated volunteers to edit recordings made by our at-home volunteer readers. This entails processing audio files (compression, EQ, normalization, noise removal) and assembling them into DTB’s (digital talking books). Qualified individuals will be proficient computer users, familiar with simple audio editing in a typical DAW program (such as ProTools, Cuebase or Audacity), committed to finishing projects in a timely manner and have a strong attention to detail.
Requirements:
- Adult (18+ Years)
- Some experience with digital audio editing preferred
- Able to do volunteer work on-site in our offices between 9am-5pm (Monday-Thursday)
- Must be able to stay focused on this detail-oriented work
- Strong reading comprehension and language skills are necessary
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems that may arise in an editing session
- Must possess a positive attitude and the patience it takes to edit an audiobook
Time Commitment:
4 to 5 hours/week on-site
Training:
Training will be provided at our studios at the Central Library building in downtown Milwaukee
