ORGANIZATION: FLORIDA GRAND OPERA INC

Responsible for calling supertitles for: Piano Dress #1, Orchestra Dress, Final Dress and all performances. Strongly encouraged to attend at least one of the following prior to calling titles: Final Room Run, Sitzprobe.

Must have strong music background. Ability to follow a score in real time and read up to eight (8) systems of music at once. Bachelors Degree in Music preferred.

Must work well under pressure and be available for the entire time commitment. Pre-screening required.

Name will be printed in program addendum if volunteer commitment is made far enough in advance. Will learn the basics of the Figaro software system (no previous experience required.) Parking provided.

Description

Florida Grand Opera, the oldest performing arts organization in Florida, celebrates its 76th year of continuously producing grand opera during the 2016-2017 season. The mainstage operas of the season include Georges Bizet's Carmen, November 12-December 3, 2016; Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, January 28-February 11, 2017; Jorge Martín's Before Night Falls, March 18-25, 2017; and Guiseppe Verdi's A Masked Ball (Un Ballo in Maschera), April 29-May 13, 2017.

Founded in 1941 as Greater Miami Opera and later merging with The Opera Guild Inc. in 1994, FGO presents a mixture of standard repertoire and contemporary works as well as commissions and new productions - all featuring projected translations in English and Spanish. Performances occur in the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami as well as the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
