Volunteers Needed For the B.I.G Night!

The Brain Injury Alliance of Washington's annual Gala and Auction is approaching and we have many fun and exciting volunteer opportunities! The support we receive from volunteers like you makes our biggest annual fundraiser a major success year after year. With your help, we can make the 2016 Gala another success!

Below are descriptions of the different volunteer jobs. As a volunteer, you will be assigned to either the 1st or 2nd shift. Volunteers in the 2nd shift will most likely be assigned to multiple tasks throughout the night. For example, some volunteers that will fill the position of Greeter will also fill an Almost Live Runner position. To volunteer for the 2nd shift, please let us know what your top 5 preferred volunteer position choices are by September 30th. We will make every attempt to accommodate this. Thank you for considering this request! Feel free to forward this opportunity to any friends or groups who would also like to get involved!

Almost Live Runner

Bid Recorder

Record bids from the auction. Volunteer needs to be able to work in fast environment.

Bid Spotters

Keep an eye on the bids that are being placed in a designated section. Once you see a bid, let the auctioneer know by raising your hand. This is a fast paced task.

Clean Up

Clean up at the end of the night. This isn't the most glamorous task but is one of the most important!

Coat Check

Receive coats and give tags to guests. Tags given out will have the same number as the tag that you keep - much like a raffle ticket. Exchange tags for coats when guests leave.

Greet guests at the entry of the event and point people to the registration table, coat check, and any other locations.

Guest Services

Welcome guests to the event, verify guest information, provide packets and catalog, and ask guests if they have additional questions. Guest services is in charge of checking guests out at the end of the night.

Live Auction Runner

When an item is sold, one person will go up to the auction clerk table to grab the bidder sheet and will take it to the winning bidder for a signature. After it's signed, take it to check out desk.

Selling Golden Tickets

Sell golden tickets to guests. We need individuals comfortable with approaching guests and asking them to purchase a ticket.

Silent Auction

Monitor to keep track of the bidding that is happening at your assigned table, be able to pull and circle winning bids, and package up item by bid numbers.

Vase Check Out

BIAWA will be selling the vase centerpieces from the dinner tables. Volunteers will be at a table selling the remaining vases.

VIP Registration

Welcome guests to the event, check-in VIP guests, take credit card information, run wine, and sell golden tickets.

Wine Spin

Get guests to spin the wheel and let them choose wine in that price category. After they choose the wine, hand them their choice.

Wine Trick

Transfer wine from guest at registration to the ballroom, ensuring that the label is facing the crowd.

Second shift volunteers must arrive by 3:00pm for volunteer orientation. No all-day volunteer shifts will be permitted.

Dress Code

First Shift: Comfortable street clothes and sneakers/closed toed shoes.

Second shift: Cocktail or Formal attire must be worn. Please wear comfortable shoes.

Food will be provided to all volunteers.
