The mission of Plainfield English School is to provide free, effective, efficient instruction in basic English to adult immigrants, in an informal atmosphere that fosters life-long learning, cooperation, self-reliance, and critical thinking.
Description
Plainfield English School is a free, informal, community-based English-as-a- second-language program for adults. It is affiliated with a 501(c)3 that is associated with our host church, the United Church of Christ - Congregational. We serve adult immigrants, mostly from Central America. We meet three mornings a week, 9:30-noon, from September to June. One teacher teaches a mixed-level class on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday she teaches beginnerw while another teacher teaches the more advanced students. The school has been operating since 2007.
