Children's Home Society of Florida

Our Family Visitation Centers ensure the safety and well-being of children and adults caught in the middle of issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence or child abuse. Supervised visitation visits allow parents and children to spend time together to establish and strengthen bonds as they learn to rebuild trust. This includes children who are currently in foster care or children with divorced parents. The centers also provide counseling and other services to parents and children. Students work one-on-one with the head of the Family Visitation Center for mentorship, training, and advisement as well as join in with a team of other like-minded dedicated interns and volunteers to process learning experiences and provide advice and support. Benefits include engaging in case management, human services group training, client and resource evaluation, hands-on/in-field experience, aid in developing plans for clients, and much more.

You can help bring local children a little closer to home as a volunteer at Children’s Home Society of Florida's Family Visitation Center. As a volunteer, you will supervise court-ordered visits between children and families who have been separated due to suspected abuse or neglect. The Family Visitation Center is a safe, neutral meeting place that is complete with a kitchen and a playground! This all helps children feel at ease so that they can spend time with their parents playing, relaxing, and just being kids! As our counselors work with parents to create a safer and more supportive environment for their children, weekly visits help parents stick to their case plan and keep motivated to work through challenges. This helps more children return home sooner and with less stress. That's what we call, a job well done!
