MOW
Delivery a smile and a meal to home-bound adults in our community

Are you a male who enjoys talking and listening to seniors?

Santa Clara County's Meals on Wheels program has started a new friendly visitor program for seniors in partnership with The Health Trust.

Our volunteers provide friendly home visits and phone calls to seniors who receive Meals on Wheels and are homebound.

This is a rewarding opportunity to build relationships with our community members who are seniors 60+ years of age.

The opportunity is for 10 hours a week for 4-6 months.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

1. Friendly, outgoing, warm, and caring male volunteers who love conversing and spending time with seniors.

2. Ability to commit to volunteering at least 10 hours a week for 4-6 months.

3. Ability to pass a background and TB test.

4. Ability to drive to and from visits.

5. Ability to speak Spanish, Vienamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Russian, or Farsi preferred, but not required.

All our clients have unique life experiences to share, and some may currently be: hard of hearing or deaf, have limited eyesight, have mild/moderate dementia, and/or walk with the use of an assistive device.

Mission Statement

Our Mission: To build health equity in the Silicon Valley.

Description

Our Vision:

The Health Trust believes every Silicon Valley resident should have the opportunity to live a healthy life.

How:

We at The Health Trust believe that if Silicon Valley is a community where innovation is changing the world, then it also can be a community where innovation changes the lives of everyone - especially our most vulnerable residents - for the better.

As we strive to make our vision reality, we reflect the values of Silicon Valley. When we tackle a problem, we take the broad view. We rely on expertise, partnerships and best practices to generate solutions that will have the greatest impact on those we serve. We invest in projects that are sustainable, show measurable results and provide the greatest return on investment for the community.

With a strong emphasis on prevention, we focus our work through three initiatives: Healthy Living, Healthy Aging and Healthy Communities. Through direct services, we are helping one person at a time. And through policy advocacy and grantmaking, we are changing the local environment to promote healthy eating, healthy aging and healthy living.
