About Susan G. Komen Michigan

Location:

2922 Fuller Ave NE, Suite 107b, Grand Rapids, MI 49505, US

Mission Statement

To save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Susan G. Komen's goal is to reduce the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50% in the U.S. within the next decade.

Description

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in herpower to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.

Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, our organization is the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

Locally, volunteers are the lifeblood of our work to end breast cancer. Funds raised by Komen Michigan, through donations and events like the Race for the Cure and Ride for the Cure, support breast health and breast cancer programs that fill unmet needs within 24 Michigan counties. Up to 75% of funds raised support local programs and educational initiatives as defined by a community needs assessment. No less than 25% of proceeds support ground breaking national breast cancer research.
