ORGANIZATION: American Cancer Society

Look Good, Feel Better
Our facilitators teach women how to manage the side effects of treatment, and empower them to face the challenges ahead.

The American Cancer Society is looking for licensed cosmetologists and aestheticians to help operate our Look Good, Feel Better classes.

In this program, the American Cancer Society works with licensed beauty professionals to provide both classroom and one on one trainings for women going through cancer treatment. This program takes donated materials from the Personal Products Care Council, and with training from the Professional Beauty Association, provides a unique, empowering and healing experience.

This is an important quality of life program operated by volunteers of the American Cancer Society and its partners. Through our classes, you will teach women to manage the side effects and challenges of cancer treatment. Courses are typically once a month at our respective hosptial sites, and are scheduled for 2 hours.

Classes are held regularly at Providence Cancer Center, Alaska Regional Hospital, and Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska, and at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital in the Interior.

We are always looking for more applicants, particularly in the Anchorage and Mat-Su areas. If you or a loved one are a licensed cosmetologist and can volunteer in the afternoons or mid-day, we would love to hear from you!!
