The Creighton Institute for Latin American Concern ILAC has 2 openings for Program Interns for 2017!
What do Program Interns do? Creighton ILAC hosts 23-27 groups who serve in the Dominican Republic. Each group is present with ILAC from one to five weeks. Creighton ILAC hosts Catholic high school groups, Catholic University students, several groups of Creighton health science students, and several medical missions. Interns are responsible for hosting the groups to which they are assigned. This includes being present with your group during all aspects of the immersion trip, both while at the ILAC center and wherever their trip may take them within the Dominican Republic. Interns serve as a cultural and language liaison and spiritual guide for groups.
What qualifications do I need?
- Bachelor’s degree completed.
- Spanish fluency.
- Ability and willingness to serve in the Dominican Republic from January-June 2017.
- Prior experience in an ILAC program is preferred, but an experience in some form of service-learning in a Latin American country is required.
- Prior experience leading faith-based activities, such as retreats, mission trips, etc. is preferred.
What are the financial arrangements for Program Interns?
- Travel covered to and from the Dominican Republic.
- A small weekly stipend in Dominican pesos.
- Free room and board at the ILAC Center (valued a $40/day).
- Payment for all work-related travel and excursions within the Dominican Republic
- Travel insurance coverage.
- Assistance in obtaining student loan deferral.

Description
All of Creighton's ILAC programs emphasize the importance of global vision and understanding in the process of educating well-rounded individuals. To this end it offers dental, medical, nursing, pharmacy, law, physical therapy and occupational therapy, undergraduate and high school students, and also to faculty-led groups, medical/surgical teams and other colleges the opportunity for service-learning and immersion experiences in the rural Dominican Republic.
