The David Druker Center for Health Systems Innovation (Druker Center) invents and deploys breakthrough innovations to advance the health and well-being of communities. Our incubation project, linkAges(tm) is a network that connects people of all ages to build healthy communities beyond the doctor’s office. The Druker Center created linkAges to address loneliness and social isolation as key barriers to the continued health and well-being of our aging communities.
linkAges Advocates is an undergraduate internship program designed to provide an additional layer of intergenerational support for our community’s vulnerable and isolated seniors. Advocates work with seniors and facilitate the implementation of linkAges while gaining an invaluable personal and professional development experience.
During the internship, Advocates divide their time between engagement with the community and meaningful professional development at the Druker Center. Specifically, Advocates will:
- Conduct friendly visits with homebound seniors to reduce isolation and support social engagement and technology use
- Participate in linkAges outreach events in the community
- Attend reflection sessions with lectures by content specialists in the healthcare industry
- Support community members in their use of the linkAges Community network
- Conduct informational interviews with Druker Center team members
