Southern Care Hospice of Mishawaka is seeking community outreach for Hospice Heroes interested helping those in our community at the hardest time of their lives.

The services you will give as a Hospice Hero will profoundly improve the quality of our patient's lives. Friendly visits enable families to keep their loved ones at home, around the people they love, and the things they love. Assisting with errands helps a tired family cope with their many challenges and allows them time with their loved one. Simply holding a patient's hand can ease their mind and comfort their spirit.

All Hospice Heroes have their own powers they can bring to these individuals and families in need. Whether it be reading, cleaning, playing bingo in a facility, preforming music, arts and crafts, or so much more. There are even oppurtunities to help administratively within the office.

If you want to enact your powers and become a Hospice Hero or want more information please contact me.

Mission Statement

Our Mission It is our mission to assure that our patients, families, and loved ones have access to a program of care that enhances quality of life for those facing a life-limiting illness. We emphasize "wholistic" care, where the whole person is addressed: physical, spiritual, and emotional support. Our patients are cared for where they live -- in the home, assisted living or skilled nursing facilities. SouthernCare recognizes the value of our dedicated staff and volunteers.. Our company is dedicated to enhancing quality of life through community education, personal example, and advocacy. As Dame Cicely Saunders, founder of the modern hospice movement, stated so beautifully: " "You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die."
