CFC Volunteer Description

We are recruiting volunteers for the fall of 2016 for the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) pledge season at CFC Charity Fairs.

What is the CFC?

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season (September 1st to December 15th) support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. There are also more than 150 state and local campaigns comprised of state, county, municipal, public schools and universities in 22 states.

What is a CFC Charity Fair?

A CFC Charity Fair is an event held at various departments and agencies of the Federal, State and Local Government and Private Companies in the DC region and nationally for employees to come and learn more about the CFC and the different charities they could support with their workplace giving pledge. Charity Fairs are great opportunities for charities to gain visibility and talk with potential donors. The fairs are fun and often have music, food and keynote speakers. The duration of a charity fair can vary and last anywhere from two to six hours.

Volunteer Description

We are looking for a group of volunteers to work with on a rolling basis from August to December to attend the various CFC Charity Fairs on behalf of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance. Invitations are sent on as an as needed basis and will be forwarded to the volunteer group. We try to give at least 1 week notice about a fair, but some invitations are sent only a few days before. Please note that the Charity Fairs are held for a minimum 2 hour period on a weekday between the hours of 8AM-6PM and are held at various locations.

Volunteers will:

  1. Need to be friendly and upbeat while attending the fair
  2. Be able to talk and be as knowledgeable as possible about the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance to engage with potential donors. (Training and materials will be provided to help with this.)
  3. Attend, either in person or virtually, one of the training sessions held in September in preparation of the CFC season.
  4. Available for the duration of the charity fair signed up for.

To Apply

Please send a brief description of what makes you a great fit for this role and contact information to Catie Dugan at cdugan@ocrfa.org.
