Global Campaign for Education-US Internship Position
The Global Campaign for Education-US (GCE-US) is a coalition of more than 80 national and community-based NGOs, teacher unions, faith-based groups, and think tanks dedicated to ensuring universal quality education for all children. The mission of GCE-US is to promote education as a basic human right and mobilize to create political will in the United States and internationally to ensure universal quality education, which is at the core of all human development. We are seeking an intern to work part-time in our Washington D.C. office for academic credit to be provided by the student’s university for the Fall 2016 semester. Our ideal candidate would be free to work 16-24 hours per week and free on Thursday afternoons to attend our monthly coalition meeting. This unpaid internship is eligible for academic credit.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and implement nonprofit fundraising campaign for summer youth leadership program (individual fundraising and grant writing)
- Prepare, update, review, and edit policy briefs, fact sheets, reports, meeting minutes, press releases, or other written materials
- Attend meetings, events, briefings, and participate in conference calls on issues related to the campaign
- Assist in managing relationships with coalition member organizations and outreach to potential new member organizations
- Assist with travel arrangements and logistics for events, conferences, meetings, calls and other administrative support as needed
Qualifications
- Passion for ensuring access to quality education for all children and an interest in and/or experience with advocacy campaigns, fundraising or nonprofit organizations
- International development experience or knowledge is a plus
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Strong writing, proofreading, editing, and communication skills and ability to clearly and effectively articulate ideas
- Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Strong knowledge and experience with all Microsoft Office applications
- Sense of humor and good interpersonal skills

GCE-US seeks fulfill its mission through four objectives:
Build a coalition and lead the global education community and supporters to ensure that the U.S. becomes a leader in the effort to achieve universal quality education.
Educate and support policymakers and encourage them to actively pursue policies that scale up quality education to reach all children, including the most marginalized children and youth.
Generate media that raises awareness about global education.
Build, sustain, and increase public support for universal quality education.
