Macomb Community Action Meals on Wheels program delivers hot, nutritious lunchtime meals to homebound senior citizens in Macomb County. We always need regular route drivers and substitute drivers to deliver meals. Regular route volunteer drivers are asked to deliver meals at least twice a month. Substitute drivers are "on-call" when needed. It takes about 90 minutes to deliver the meals. Meal routes are driven Monday through Friday at lunchtime; we try to accomodate which day is best for you.
So if you committ to delivering every other week, that is volunteering only two times a month. The areas where drivers are needed varies.
Meals are also delivered on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Special emergency food pack delivery projects take place on Saturdays multiple times during the year.
Mileage reimbursement is offered.
