DWAG and K Street Collection are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic volunteers/interns to promote the ARB project that is dedicated to support DWAG’s unique project

Darfur Women Action Group and ARB are working in partnership to support Darfur Women Action Group 's Women Empowering Women Project that Darfur Women Action Group has developed to provide support for women survivors in Darfur

The K-Street Collection is part of the works of ARB Publishing which is a contemporary publishing company writing for global humanitarian and human rights causes including education, poverty, women’s issues, children’s rights, democracy, peace, global climate, and animal issues.

Our Mission: To produce creative and marketable books that address the community’s issues with hope to bring change to young men and women in disadvantaged communities. More specifically, the goals of the K-Street Collection include:

Goal

  • To draw the attention of readers to be interested in causes, not just the book
  • Generate support for communities’ development goals
  • Creating characters for youth to interest them in community development efforts

Internship:

The K-Street Collection is seeking dynamic intern/volunteer who are willing to advance its mission to support leadership in disadvantaged communities and learn new skills for the following positions:

Communication, Marketing and sale Intern

Outreach and partnership building Intern

Interns (2) Job Description

- Outreach to relevant institutions, agencies, organizations

- Partnership building (identifying potential partners and establishing relationships)

- Promoting/marketing production including sale of books and promotion of the K-Street Co and its product through social media,

- Online and off line marketing

- Phone calls, in person, negotiating deals, etc.

- Social media

Skills: strong interpersonal and communications skills

Preferable Majors: Business administration, international relations, international development and communication and marketing.

In addition, interns will learn and receive training in the following skills

-editing

-writing

-research (mostly academic)

-book design

-photography

-APA research training

*sales-be aggressive, grow through it-not necessary to have experience

* Interns who perform well may receive a full-paid position with company in the future

Mission Statement

Our Mission Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) is a U.S. based Darfuri women-led anti-atrocities organization. DWAG works with victims and survivors of the Darfur genocide in the Diaspora and back home in Sudan, providing them with more access to the tools that will enable them to lead the effort in combatting violence, addressing massive human rights abuses in their society, and working with others to prevent future atrocities and promote global peace. The core priority for Darfur Women Action Group lies in advancing the human rights of and supporting the Darfuri to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. We do this by supporting women rights and empowerment NGOs at the grassroots and national level in the U.S. and on the ground in Darfur, building their capacity to lead desirable change and provide opportunities for the international community to hear directly from those most affected by conflict.

Description

Darfur Women Action Group (DWAG) is a non-profit organization that takes a unique approach to fighting and preventing genocide. DWAG believes that empowering those most affected and building strong leadership among those who are historically excluded enable them to lead and foster positive change in their communities. We believe this is a vital approach to ending genocide and achieving sustainable peace.

DWAG is currently seeking interested interns and/or volunteers who are willing to help advance the goals the organization is striving to achieve.

Internships are available for undergraduate, graduate students, and recent graduates who are available for at least 10-20 hours per week for a 3-month long work commitment.
