We are looking for volunteers to assist with our third event in the Art and the Landscape program-an innovative platform for engaging the community and inspiring conversation. Volunteers will be responsible for assisting with set up and break down, welcoming guests, answering questions, and helping us make sure participants have a meaningful experience.

More about the event:

While explicitly racist policies and structures have been dismantled, systemic forms of racism and inequality remain. It is time to change perspective, to use science and experience to reveal how we think, instead of what we think. In collaboration with Tim Phillips and Beyond Conflict, The Meeting House will function as a venue for a dialogue that utilizes shared experience as a means to develop a framework to engage in productive discussions about race.

Featuring: Penny Outlaw, co-president Royall House & Slave Quarters; Adam Foss, prosecutor and juvenile justice reformer; Ebrahim Rasool, former South African ambassador to U.S.; and moderator Tim Phillips of Beyond Conflict

The Meeting House is a platform for inspiring new ideas in relation to the intractable structures of racial discrimination and segregation. Based on houses constructed by the first free Africans in Concord (1770’s) the pavilion structure creates an open, transparent framework that points to the future. The Meeting House will host a series of public programs, entitled Lyceum, inviting visitors to break out of the narratives that keep us from imaging and producing the equitable social relations that we seek.
