Partners in Caring

A caregiver near you could use a break - a couple of hours off from caring for a loved one to shop, nap, take a walk, visit a friend.

Help a local caregiver by providing friendly visits and caring companionship to someone with early stage memory loss, dementia, or other chronic conditions. Visit a few times a month on your own schedule. We will provide training, ongoing support and work with you to find the right match.

Activities may include going for walks together, looking at photo albums, engaging in conversation, arts and crafts, gardening, shopping, sharing a meal together, etc. Supplemental training on Reminiscence/Life Review provided. Utilize reminiscence strategies to engage the person you visit- use memories as a point of connection and help them find meaning in their life story.

Mission Statement

Longer life means that today's older adults have opportunities unknown to previous generations. Longer life also brings new challenges for both older adults and caregivers. Lifespan is a trusted source of unbiased information, guidance and more than 30 services and advocacy for older adults and caregivers. We also provide training and education for allied professionals and the community. Whether you need information about financing long-term care or guidance about eldercare, assistance handling bill payment and finances, advice about senior housing, help with health insurance options under Medicare, or assistance in an elder abuse situation, count on us to help you take it on. Lifespan is a member of the American Society on Aging and the National Council on Aging.

Lifespan, founded in 1971, has provided service to Rochester area older adults and caregivers for 48 years. The organization has a $10.4 million annual budget and receives support from the government, The United Way of Greater Rochester, numerous foundations, private contributors, and through service fees.
