Thanks to KaBoom! and ESPN, the Samuel Field Y will be getting a brand new playground! We are asking that our community members join with volunteers from Disney and organizers from KaBOOM!, a national non-profit dedicated to bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all kids, on various dates to help us build the playground!

Prep Day 1 is Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 8:00am - 4:00pm

Prep Day 2 is Thursday, September 13, 2016 (to be determined)

Build Day is Friday, September 14 at 7:45am!

  • Volunteers should be age 18+ and will assemble playground pieces, mix concrete, move mulch, etc.
  • Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and closed toe shoes; leave valuables at home.
  • Youth activities will be provided.
  • Gloves, goggles, breakfast, and lunch will be provided.
  • Volunteer responsibilities for individuals with physical limitations are available.

Commonpoint Queens is a non-profit, multi-service agency with flagship sites in Little Neck, Bayside, Forest Hills, and 33 additional sites throughout the community that provides a diverse array of programs and services to over 35,000 people. Since our inception, almost 60 years ago, the Samuel Field Y has been dedicated to the core element of our mission - enhancing the quality of individual, family and communal life through service to people of all ages, ability levels, stages of life and backgrounds.

Description

For almost 60 years, Commonpoint Queens (formerly The Samuel Field and Central Queens YMWHA) has remained strong and vital and has continued to provide new and innovative programs to the greater Northeast Queens and Western Nassau communities.

As we embark on our sixth decade of providing high quality programs and services to our community, individuals of all ages learn and flourish within a caring and supportive environment at one of our 36 different sites throughout our neighborhoods.

We continue to provide life enhancing and life sustaining services to the over 35,000 people who depend on us to be their community center at each stage of their lives.
